Is the AI voice agent really free?

Yes. The Free plan includes 1 AI voice command per day and 1 AI receipt scan per day, so you can try the AI features with no commitment. Paid plans bump this to 25 voice commands and 10 receipt scans per day, with a free trial on signup.

How do I add a transaction with my voice?

Tap the mic button at the bottom of the home screen, then speak naturally — for example, "Spent 12 on lunch, cash" or "Received 5000 salary". The AI voice agent transcribes what you said, then extracts the amount, account, category, and note. You'll see a preview before saving so you can correct anything.

Does the voice agent work offline?

Speech-to-text uses the device's speech service, so a brief connection is required while listening. The AI extraction step is also online. Everything else — adding transactions, updating budgets, payroll — works fully offline and syncs when you're back online.

What languages does the voice agent support?

English is fully supported, including natural phrasing like "Spent 12 on lunch, cash" or "Withdrew 30 from atm". The agent understands transfers and infers context — for example, "withdrew 5 from atm" when both cash and card accounts exist implies a transfer from card to cash.

How does the AI receipt scanner work?

Tap the scan icon, snap a photo of any receipt — paper or screen. The AI extracts the merchant name, total amount, date, and category, then shows you the result for review before saving. The original receipt image is stored in your secure cloud storage for your records.

What happens if the AI extracts the wrong amount from a receipt?

The AI never saves a receipt automatically. Every scan is shown to you on the review screen where you can edit the merchant, total, date, or category before confirming. The original photo stays attached to the transaction as a receipt attachment.

How do I add the home screen widget?

On iOS: long-press the home screen, tap the "+" button, and search for "Budget Collab". Choose between the quick-add widget (Expense, Income, Voice, Scan) and the larger agent widget. On Android: long-press the home screen, tap Widgets, find Budget Collab, and drag the widget to your screen.

Do the home screen widgets drain battery?

No. The native iOS and Android widgets are built on the platform's standard widget APIs and use background refresh sparingly. The widgets display your remaining AI quota and provide one-tap deep links into the right action — they don't run in the background continuously.

How do I create a budget?

Tap the "+" button on the home screen, select a budget type (Personal, Business, or Team), give it a name, and set your starting balance. You can customize categories and invite collaborators right away.

What's the difference between Personal, Business, and Team budgets?

Personal budgets are for individual money management — accounts, categories, spending budgets, and savings goals. Business budgets add payroll management, team members, and granular permissions. Team budgets are real-time collaborative, with multiple contributors editing the same budget simultaneously.

Can I have multiple budgets?

The Free plan includes 1 personal budget. The Personal Premium plan includes unlimited personal budgets. Business plans add multiple business budgets (1 for Business Basic, up to 10 for Business Pro) with separate payroll per budget.

How many currencies are supported?

Budget Collab supports 150+ world currencies and crypto on every plan. Set your base currency per budget, and you can switch it at any time from the budget's settings.

How do I set a savings goal?

Navigate to the Savings section, tap "Create Goal," set a target amount and deadline. You can transfer funds from any budget directly into the goal and track progress with visual milestones.

How do I schedule a recurring payment?

Go to the Scheduled Payments section, tap "Add Schedule," choose the amount, frequency (weekly, monthly, etc.), and start date. You'll receive push notifications before each due date.

👥 Collaboration & payroll

Can I invite others to my budget?

Yes. Open the budget you want to share, go to Settings, and tap "Invite Collaborator." Enter their email and assign a role (Viewer, Editor, or Admin). They'll receive an invitation to join.

What roles are available?

Viewer can see all transactions and analytics but can't edit. Editor can add transactions, create categories, and edit budgets. Admin has full control including inviting/removing members, running payroll, and managing the budget settings.

How do I run payroll for my business?

Create a Business budget, add employees under the Payroll section with their salaries, then tap "Run Payroll" to process payments. The amount is deducted from your business budget and recorded in each employee's payment history.

Does payroll integrate with my bank?

Budget Collab records payroll inside the app and updates your business budget balance, but does not push payments to your bank. Use the in-app record as the source of truth, then run the actual bank transfer from your banking app.

📶 Offline & sync

How does offline sync work?

Budget Collab works fully offline. All your transactions, edits, and changes are stored locally on your device. When you reconnect to the internet, everything syncs automatically to our cloud servers — no manual action needed.

What happens if two collaborators edit offline simultaneously?

Our sync engine uses last-write-wins for most fields, but for transactions and balances it follows a conflict-resolution rule: the larger change wins, then both users get a banner asking them to review the conflict. Shared budgets are best used with at least one person online.

What does the Free plan include?

1 personal budget, no collaborators, full transactions and spending tracker, offline mode and auto-sync, 150+ currencies, 1 AI voice command per day, and 1 AI receipt scan per day. Free forever, no credit card needed.

Can I cancel my subscription anytime?

Absolutely. Subscriptions are managed through the App Store or Google Play and can be cancelled at any time — you'll keep premium features until the end of the current billing period, then drop back to the Free plan. No cancellation fees, no questions asked.

Is there a free trial?

Yes — every paid plan starts with a free trial: 3 days on Personal, and 7 days on Business and Business Pro. No credit card required, no automatic charge. You'll be reminded before the trial ends, and you can cancel anytime from the App Store or Google Play.

How do I restore my purchases on a new device?

Open Budget Collab, sign in with the same account that made the purchase, then go to the Plans screen and tap the "Restore Purchases" icon in the top right. Your subscription is tied to your account, not the device.

🔐 Account & privacy

Is my financial data safe?

Yes. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. We use industry-standard authentication, granular permissions on shared budgets, and never sell your data. Receipt images and transaction records are stored in your own private cloud space. Read our Privacy Policy for the full picture.

Do you train AI on my data?

No. Your voice transcripts, receipt photos, and transaction history are used only to power the AI extraction for that specific request. They are never used to train foundation models, and we do not share them with third parties.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account and confirm your choice. You can also email privacy@budgetcollab.app from your registered email to request deletion. Your data will be permanently removed within 30 days.

Can I export my data?

Yes. CSV and PDF export is available in Business Pro. Personal Premium and Business Basic are getting export support soon. In the meantime, you can request a full data export by emailing privacy@budgetcollab.app.
